Confirmed: Nikon D5 and D500 Image Sensors are Made by Sony

It is now confirmed that the Nikon D5 and D500 image sensors are both made by Sony.

The Nikon D5 and Nikon D500 DSLR cameras were both announced at the beginning of 2016, but at that time we didn’t know the sensor info. The TechInsights (previously known as Chipworks) already published their reports on the sensors inside the Nikon D5 and D500 DSLR cameras showing that Nikon D5 and D500 image sensors are both made by Sony:

• Sony IMX321 CMOS image sensor in the Nikon D500
• Toshiba (Sony) T4K54 CMOS image sensor in the Nikon D5
