Sony already released the pricing and shipping time for the FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS G Master lens: $2,598, will be released on July 29. And the first reviewers published their Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS lens first impressions and reviews.
The overall sharpness from this lens is probably the best I’ve seen from any Sony FE lens placed on an Alpha mirrorless camera. There are 11 circular aperture blades that produce some wonderful out of focus areas as you can see in the images. The image quality from this lens is simply remarkable and fully deserving of the G Master moniker.
The lens can still track moving subjects very well through a scene and maintain focus. The best results came at f4.
The sharpness from this lens is impeccable when the subject is nailed perfectly in focus.
Photos are tack sharp, beautifully rendered, and colors pop. I adore the photos taken from this camera and it is the first E-Mount lens I have truly fallen in love with.
The Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master is a stellar lens that I believe performs better than the cameras currently available to it. It is the kind of optic that is future-proof, outpacing the present but will continue to be a phenomenal lens for years to come. It was challenging to fully evaluate the lens at what it’s good at, action and motion capture, due to the limitations of the camera, so we might revisit the lens at a later date. It’s a really great lens, and unfortunately the best camera it can currently be used on is the a7R II, a body that wasn’t really designed to do what the 70-200 wants to do.
The new Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM, 50mm f/1.4 and Teleconverters are now available for pre-order online. So, if you are interested, order immediately so as to obtain these great products as soon as possible.
