Canon is Still Actively Working on EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens
According to the latest Canon Rumors, Canon is still actively working on the new 24-70mm standard zoom lens with Image Stabilization: Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM lens. Although we don’t know the announcement date, it is good to know that development continues.
Canon didn’t release this EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS lens because it is too big and too heavy when with image stabilization feature, so Canon released a smaller EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II instead. So, if the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM lens is ready for the announcement, the weight and size will have to be reduced.
This new Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS lens will be more expensive than EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM ($200 off now), and it will not replace the current EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM.
Stay tuned for more info.
